This is a term used by a younger male when addressing an older female. This literally means big sister.
Considering other languages, such as English, there is only term for big sister for both females and males, but in Korean there are two.
| English term for Older Sister (both girls and boys) | Older Sister |
| Korean term for older sister used by a younger girl. | 언니 (pronounced as Uh-ni), Older Sister |
| Korean term for older sister used by a younger boy. | 누나 (pronounced as Nu-na), Older Sister |
When I purchased this domain name, I just wanted to own it because it was a genertic word in Korean with the .com suffix. I don't "have" to sell this, but I am looking to as I don't see a great need for this domain. For now, I just put up a bunch of adsense in hopes of making some money, but other than that I have nothing to do with it.
If you have the money. Send me an offer at DonIlChang@Gmail.com
In my own perspective, I think that this page would be good for a dating service where people prefer older women. As long as there are babies being born, we don't have much to worry about in terms of dating. There will always be someone dating and always someone wanting to date. Therefore, for the best utilization of this website, I think a good dating site would be put into place. I would do this myself, but I just don't have the time to set up a dating service and translate everythign into Korean. Nor do I have the ability to translate everything into Korean.
IDN Domains are becoming more prominent and usage and they are gaining steam. Once the IDN market sets and countries understand the value of these terms of websites in their own language, I don't think they will be fully understood in value.
Until this Domain is Purchased, I will be writting under this line about how American men can relate to Korean women.
Native Korean Women and what that means to an American Korean Man or American Man.
There always has been a desire within me to write a book or something like it about a special relationship and symbiotic connection which is made between an American man and a Korean woman. This I mean by cultural background and not so much the blood race of a person. I am a Korean American married to a Korean woman. She is older than I, but of course, we still have a great relationship. It wasn't very easy to get where we are today, because we had so many road blocks and hardships simply because of our language barrier. Somehow through sharing every day with my wife whom speaks Korean on a daily basis has helped my own korean speaking abilities and she's also showing signs of good progress in the English language. I am going to write this article specifically for those who are in a KA and NK dating situation. There are many things that I have learned through this journey by the mistakes that I have made, because of miscommunication of two different cultures and expectations.
I Don't Want To Talk To You Right Now
This is a universal response to arguments and disagreements of all cultures, we all have a tendency to not want to communicate at times. This is perfectly fine, but just be careful of Korean women, because they will seriously mean this when they say it. No trying to be some kind of hero and surprise her at her house or something, just leave her alone for a while and let her be.
"English Gramatical Order" does not equal "Korean Gramatical Order"
Just for future reference, if you're new to Korean and your trying to convey a message. Make sure that you not saying an "American" slogan in english which to Korean people can sound really retarded and make absolutely no sense. Your new to Korean so don't try to make any new words for them, I think they won't like that very much. English has a word order of noun, verb, noun. Which is the very basic sentence structure. Korean has something more of a verb, noun... actually, I'm not very sure about this Korean gramatical thing, but I know for a fact that the sentence structure is different.
Make sure that you are speaking their language in their own terms. When I first told my wife that my cell phone was "dead", she though I was weird. But you see, in English we have a metaphor of cell phones being dead but in Korean it's just that the battery ran out. This also goes for romantic phrase. I've used a few that were directly translated from English which only left me with a confused face.
Learn Korean by speaking with your significant other and keep practicing and it will become more useful in the future as you begin to communicate even deeper things.
The Talk Around
Korean women seem to do something that is contrary to the American culture and American understanding of sociointeractive cultural norms. When they are trying to convey a message to you and get to know something from you, they'll somehow change or twist the question around to trick you into giving them the information that they want, but all they has to do is ask for it directly. Americans have a sense of needed to be direct in the things that we say and do, but Koreans don't want to do thing directly. Rather they do things in a circle. They Talk Around the situation in search of information from you or other people.
The Cute Thing
Korean Women love to feel cute. They like to feel like a little baby is being taken care of. They enjoy being in your arms and knowin that you will protect them until death do you part. There is a certain pull that you get from them that is constantly asking for attention. Thats the cute thing. "OOOHH PHHAAA~~". Yeah, thats actually their secret weapon. I suggest you try not to get caught up in that too much cause if you do you'll be in trouble. They'll hypnotize you and make you melt. This is one of the things that Americans can really enjoy, because American women seem to be very uncute and more independent.
What They Give is What They Like
You know what the best gift is that you can buy for someone? It's the gift that they like to give. Usually or sometimes we refer this to subconciously we like to give the gifts that we also want to receive. I would recommend that you see what kinds of gifts that your significant other enjoys buying for people for their birthdays and holidays and you can see a good picture of what they enjoy and like.
They Are Crazy About Korean Dramas
I hope you know that the woman your about to marry or date is in love with Korean dramas and television shows. I'm not sure how the government pulled this off, but they have somehow brainwashed Korean citizens to really love television shows, smoke ciggaretes, and drink soju. I myself do not do these things, because I choose not to. My wife doesn't do any of these things eaither, but I am speaking about the norm of the society of the Korean culture. Korean dramas is probably in the 90% range of infatuation for Korean people. That is where they get their clothing styles, manerisms, and current trends for music. Here is a simple question that you can ask yourself, "Can I handle my GF watching television atleast 3-5 hours sometimes non-stop periods of time of 20+ hours?" If your answer is yes, then progress with the relationship. It would be wise for you to ask your date, "How much do you like Korean dramas." If she replies with non-stop chatter for next 15 minutes talking about all of her favorite past dramas, currently watching dramas, and those dramas she's looking forward to watch... then be warned."
Communicate Yourself To Your Significant Other
I just recently had a epiphany while having a conversation with my wife. I realized that the things that I am thinking in my head, if they are not spoken for her to hear and understand, are of no use when trying to convey your message to another other. When you have a problem, disagreement, or pet peeve come up, just let them know so they can understand where you are coming from. On the flip side, you must also explain to them what your actions are and the meanings behind them. I have done in my own life many actions with different meanings in behind them. Though it's easy to get caught up in what you are doing and assume that you've already communicated many things that were in your head. Make sure to share with them in detail with whats going on so they aren't confused about what your doing in the future.
